What is a V-Band, and why are they better than standard flanges?

Can I install V-bands myself?
If you're a fabricator or experienced welder, you can. Because when you're welding V-band flanges, accuracy is critical to prevent warping or distortion. So, it's best to use a fabricator who knows their stuff. However, if you're a competent welder, use techniques to minimise warping, like applying multiple tack welds to stabilise the flange during welding and ensuring adequate cooling between welding intervals to prevent overheating. You'll be good to go.

What size V-band do I need?
When it comes to V-band flanges, it's important to select the right size and type for your specific application. Plan out your system and then refer to manufacturer specifications to determine the correct flange and clamp size, guaranteeing optimal performance and a perfect fit.
This is because there are different types of V-Bands for different applications and even different generations. For example, Turbosmart are now up to Gen V. So, it pays to know what you have to match or if in double bring it into the store to check.
